FAQS

WHAT IS YOUR BOOKING PROCESS?

After completing your online inquiry, you will be contacted within 48 hours to confirm availability.  Some brides decide to book right away and schedule a trial closer to their wedding date (which is recommended, because there are only so many weekends in the year, and dates book up fast!) or they book a trial prior to making a decision.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK?

We recommend booking  6-18 months in advance, although Kacie has been booked as far as two years in advance.

IS THERE A MINIMUM FOR BOOKING?

During peak wedding season (May-October), there is a $2600 minimum for booking.  In the offseason, there is a $1800 minimum for booking.  This can be any combination of makeup and/or hair services.

HOW LARGE OF A BRIDAL PARTY CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE?

Kacie and her team can accommodate a bridal party of any size. Just let us know your time constraints, how many services your party needs, and we will book our artists accordingly! For parties of 5 of more who require both hair and makeup, Kacie will provide one artist in addition to herself (if needed) free of charge, each additional artist on top of that is a $400 fee.

HOW LONG DOES EACH SERVICE TAKE?

For the bride we book 1 hour for hair and 1 hour for makeup and for attendants we book 30 minutes for makeup, 30 minutes for blow-outs, and 45 minutes for up-dos.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO DO A HAIR AND MAKEUP CHANGE?

Hair up or down? Natural makeup, or smoky? If you can’t decide, (or if you want all the looks!) not to worry! We can create more than one “look”! A lot of brides prefer to look more natural (hair down with wavy texture, “fresh-faced” makeup) during their ceremony and want to up the glam factor for their reception (pin the hair up, smoke out the eyeshadow or throw on a bright lip), it is totally up to you!

CAN I HIRE YOU TO STAY FOR TOUCH UPS?

Absolutely! Although your makeup is applied to last all day, some brides feel more comfortable if their sylist is with them until the reception. Also, since “first looks” have become increasingly popular (and are super emotional), it has become common for the bride to hire her stylist to stay through the first look and up until the ceremony.

IS GRATUITY INCLUDED IN YOUR PRICING?

No, gratuity is not included in the pricing structure. It is not expected, but is much appreciated!

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK A TRIAL?

In my experience, there are four ways brides typically book their trial run. 1) They want to do a trial before booking, in which case we schedule the trial within two weeks of initial contact. 2) The bride books and wants to schedule a trial right away. 3) The bride books and waits 1-2 months before her wedding to schedule the trial.  4) The brides books a trial right away and books a second trial closer to the wedding date.

For brides coming in from out of town, we do our best to accommodate trials during the limited weekends they visit the Boston area for wedding planning.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT MY TRIAL?

For the trial we ask the bride to arrive with a clean slate; no makeup and dry hair (hair can be clean or on the second day). We will then discuss the bride’s vision for her wedding hair and/or makeup.   It starts with reviewing pictures of how the bride wears her own makeup.  Then we look at her inspiration images, pictures of the dress, and any veils/hair accessories she plans to wear. Lots of brides collect inspiration ideas on a pinterest board, which helps to give a solid understanding of the brides style, needs, and wants.  From there we work together to create the perfect look for your wedding day!  We then thoroughly document what was done so the bride can rest assured that we can recreate her look perfectly.

HOW LONG DOES THE TRIAL LAST?

For makeup only, 1 hour. For hair only, 1 hour and 30 minutes.  For hair and makeup, 2 hours and 30 minutes.

WHAT IF I WOULD LIKE TO TRY OUT SEVERAL DIFFERENT LOOKS?

If you are having a hard time deciding which look you like best, we offer an “exploratory” trial where the bride can try several different looks. This lasts up to 4 hours and there is a fee of $800.  After the initial trial time, there is an hourly fee of $100.

WHERE DO THE TRIALS TAKE PLACE?

Trials take place at our studio which is located at 516 East 2nd Street, Boston, MA 02127.

On-location trials can be arranged for an additional fee.

CAN I BRING SOMEONE WITH ME TO THE TRIAL?

Absolutely! It is common for the bride to bring along her mother and/or maid of honor.

WILL YOU TRAVEL TO ME ON THE WEDDING DAY?

Yes! Kacie and team will travel to your home or hotel on your wedding day.

IS THERE A TRAVEL FEE?

The travel fee is the IRS standard mileage rate of 59.5 cents per mile.  Weddings that are 2+ hours away require that the artist(s) arrive the night before. The bride or planner is responsible for booking accommodations.

DO YOU DO DESTINATION WEDDINGS?

Yes! Destination weddings require that the artist is booked for a minimum of two days and that all costs associated with travel (travel, lodging, meals) are covered.  Please inquire for our Destination Wedding package.

WHAT TYPES OF PRODUCTS DO YOU USE?

Kacie uses a variety of high-end brands including, but not limited to the following: Dior, MAC, Makeup Forever, NARS, Makeup by Mario, Saie, Smashbox, Inglot, Tarte, Fenty, Benefit, Temptu, Laura Mercier, and Anastasia Beverly Hills

WHAT IF SOMEONE HAS AN ALLERGY OR SENSITIVE SKIN?

If the bride or a member of her bridal party has a specific allergy or sensitivity, please notify us ahead of time so our artists avoid the use of certain products. We also recommend that she bring her own makeup if she has extremely sensitive skin.

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

We accept online payments as well as cash, check, Visa and Mastercard.
